What is a Discussion Board?

A discussion board or threaded discussion is a forum in which instructors can post questions and announcements pertaining to the topic with readings, audio and video (Simonson et al., 2012). As a student, you canpost comments and/or questions directed to instructors and fellow students on the discussion board, serving as further effective assessment tools of student performance and knowledge. The discussion boards used will come from Blackboard. The choice of your discussion topics has an effect on the quality and diversity of student responses and is usually determined by the instructor. Discussion boards will provide you with the opportunity to experience similar question/answer sessions as in face-to-face settings (Durrington, Berryhill, & Swafford, 2006). You will be able to create your own discussion posts on EDU 2.0.
